From Individual Resonance to Collective Sound

Integral Gong Playing approaches the gong as a musical instrument, a resonant body, a field of perception and a medium for individual and collective sound practice. During three intensive days, participants develop fundamental gong-playing techniques and explore listening, movement, resonance, rhythm, silence, interaction, the Cosmic Octave, planetary frequencies and collective performance.

The three stages

• Day 1 — The Gong: Body · Mallet · Resonance · Listening. Protocol I (Single Mallet Resonance), guided individual practice, individual masterclass coaching, one gong in different fields of application, Protocol II (Resonant Dialogue).
• Day 2 — The Relationship: Polarity · Dialogue · Rhythm · Silence · Cosmic Resonance. Protocol III (Dual Mallet Integration), rhythm enters the gong, Protocol IV (Rhythm & Empty Space), introduction to the Cosmic Octave and its five primary frequencies, Protocol V (Cosmic Resonance Lab), Integral Duo Performance.
• Day 3 — The Field: Planetary Cycles · Ensemble · Composition · Performance · Integration. Collective practice, TimeFreq planetary sonification in real time, Protocol VI (Integral Ensemble Practice), Integral Application Lab, Performance Lab with masterclass feedback, Final Integral Gong Ensemble and Certification Ceremony.

Questions & answers

Do I need to bring my own gong?
You can bring your own gong. We will also have gongs available.

What should I bring?
We recommend bringing a yoga mat or cushion. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in.

Are meals included?
Lunch is an optional add-on at $25 per person per day. Choose 1, 2 or 3 days when you reserve. Menu options will be emailed ahead of the training. Tea and coffee are complimentary throughout the day.

Is parking available?
Street parking is available.

How many spots are available?
San Francisco has 40 spots available.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Because spots are limited, cancellations received more than seven days before the first day of the training are refunded at 50%. Cancellations within seven days of the training are non-refundable. The same policy applies to the lunch add-on.

Do I receive a certificate?
Yes. The Certificate of Completion, Integral Gong Playing – Level 1, is presented at the closing ceremony on Day 3.

Can I get advice on choosing a gong?
Yes. During selected breaks Jens offers optional personal instrument consultations, and you can explore different gongs from The Gong Shop.
