These are the gongs that carry our own name, which means each one crossed our path twice: once when we selected it at the source, and again when it earned the label. The collection centers on Chinese chau and wind gongs we hand-pick in Wuhan for a clean fundamental and controlled wash — the same instruments we hang in our own showrooms — along with etched designs from Nepal, tuned Burmese sets, and other pieces we are proud to stand behind. Because we import directly, The Gong Shop gongs tend to offer the strongest value in the store: comparable bronze and craftsmanship to the big drum-company names, without the logo premium.

Choosing within the collection follows the usual compass points — chau for depth and a crash that builds, wind for a fast bright bloom, larger diameters for deeper fundamentals and longer sustain. We record audio of many of these instruments individually, so the gong you hear online is the gong that arrives.
